Matt and I decided we wanted to take mini-vacations about once a month to explore and see what FL has to offer us. Over Memoial Weekend we made a trip down to Orlando.
Sat: We had reservations at one of the ‘sister’ parks to Sea World; Discovery Cove (http://discoverycove.com/). It’s an all-inclusive park that has a really neat lazy river, a bird aviary where you can feed tropical birds, a dolphin swim area and a coral reef where you can snorkel. It was awesome!!!! Because you have to make reservations there’s a limited amount of people at the park, which made the experience that much better. We didn’t have to wait in line for 45 min to swim in the lazy river or fight our way to see a bird or feed it. We were able to swim the lazy river multiple times without crowds; it was so relaxing and peaceful.
In the bird aviary we got bowls of food and the birds would just fly right over to us and land on our hands/arms and start eating. It was a little scary at first, I felt like I was in the movie ‘The Birds’ a few times, cause I would have 3 birds landing on me at once trying to eat some of the food I had. But all in all it was a really cool experience.
Over in the Coral Reef you could snorkel. There was also a SeaVenture (for an extra charge of course 😉 ). It was an underwater sea tour!!! It was so cool!!!! 🙂 I can’t even describe how beautiful and cool this experience was, Matt and I throughly enjoyed this part of Discovery Cove! It was a little weird at first; we slowly entered the water by ladder and they would place a dome over our heads that would feed oxygen to us while underwater. It was really awkward to have on our heads, I would try to grab at something or try to get Matt’s attention but my perception was completely off!!! But it was really enjoyable, so much to see!!! Our tour guides gave us an underwater camera to use and I went picture happy!!!!! Afterward we went snorkeling in the Coral Reef 🙂
